FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions — Certified Copies

Is a certified copy accepted instead of the original?

In most cases, yes. Courts, banks, government departments and embassies accept notarised certified copies when submission of the original is not practical or required. However, some authorities may require the original for verification — always check the requirements of the specific authority you are submitting to before getting a certified copy made.
There is no limit on the number of certified copies. You can get as many copies of as many documents as you need in a single visit. We recommend getting extra copies to avoid having to return for additional ones later.
Yes, our Notary can certify copies of court orders and judgements from the printed or downloaded version you carry. For a court-certified copy (required for appeal purposes), you must apply through the nazarat section of the relevant court — a separate process our team can assist you with.
A certified copy does not have a set expiry date. However, many authorities (particularly government departments and banks) prefer certified copies that are recent — typically within 3 to 6 months of the date of submission. Always confirm recency requirements with the receiving authority.
